Empowering Children's Care Ltd ("we", "us") is a company registered in England and Wales, company number 16886322. Our director, Kathleen Walsh, is responsible for how we handle personal information.

It does not cover the information we see and record during Regulation 44 visits.
We handle that under our agreement with each home, which sets out how it is protected, who it is shared with and how long it is kept.
What we collect and why
- Your name, email and message, when you contact us. We use them to reply to you. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.
- Work contact details of people at the homes we work with. We use them to provide and invoice our services. Legal basis: to carry out our contract.
- Work contact details of registered managers and providers, taken from the public Ofsted register of children's homes. We use them to tell children's homes about our services. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in promoting our business to organisations that are required by law to use an independent visitor.
- Messages sent through the contact form are checked automatically for spam. Our website host does this for us. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the form free of spam.
Where we get information from
Mostly from you. For people we contact about our services, we get work contact details from the public Ofsted register of children's homes and published inspection reports.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information. We use a small number of service providers to run the business: our website host, Netlify, which receives messages sent through our contact form and checks them for spam; Microsoft, which provides our email; and our professional advisers, such as an accountant. They only use your information to provide their service to us.
Some of these providers may handle information outside the UK. Where they do, they use safeguards approved under UK data protection law.
Cookies
This website does not use cookies. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to work: up to 12 months
- Client records: for as long as we work together, then 6 years for tax and legal reasons
- People we have contacted about our services who have not replied: up to 12 months
- People who ask us not to contact them: we keep their name only, so that we do not contact them again
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to how we use it.
You can tell us to stop contacting you about our services at any time, and we will.

Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and let you know what we are doing about it.
